What are Calculations?

Understand how calculations work in OutSmart and what the module includes.

What are Calculations?

A calculation is a working document where you build up the cost of a job and set the sales price before you quote it.

It shows your purchase price, your margin, and the final sales price side by side.

How calculations work in OutSmart

You add materials and hours to the calculation, just like on a quotation.

OutSmart totals the purchase price, the sales price, and the margin for you.

A calculation always belongs to one customer and is prepared as a quotation in calculation mode.

A calculation is not sent to the customer.

You export it to a quotation first.

What a calculation shows

A calculation gives you these totals:

  • total purchase price

  • total sales price

  • total margin

  • total hours price

  • total items price

How margin goals help

Each calculation compares its margin against your margin goals.

The result shows as Danger, Warning, or Safe so you can see at a glance whether the price is healthy.

Who can use calculations

The Calculations module is a feature that must be enabled for your account.

Access follows your quotation rights.
