Use barcodes and EAN codes

Add scannable item codes so employees can find the right item faster in the field.

You can store a Barcode or EAN code on an item.

This helps employees find items faster when they scan products in the app.

Open the item

Go to Items.

Open the item you want to update.

Edit the item

Click Edit.

Add the code

Fill in the Barcode field, the EAN code field, or both.

Save the item

Save the item so the code becomes searchable.

Scan the item in the app

When an employee scans the code, OutSmart searches for a matching item.

OutSmart can search on fields such as:

• item code
• barcode
• EAN code

What happens if no item matches the scanned code?

OutSmart can offer the option to add an item with that code.

Do I need both a barcode and an EAN code?

No.
