Change an object code

Change an existing object code carefully when a correction is really necessary.

You can change an object code, but only do this when it is really necessary.

Object codes are used across the process.

Change the object code

Open Objects

Go to BackOffice → Objects.

Open the object

Select the object you want to edit.

Start editing

Click Edit.

Unlock the code field

Click the Lock button.

Confirm that you want to continue.

Enter the new code

Update the object code.

Then click Save.

Before you change the code

Check whether the object is already linked to:

  • work orders

  • contracts

  • quotations

  • invoices

  • historical records

If possible, note the original code first.

Why is changing an object code risky?

The object code is used as a reference in multiple places.

Changing it can create confusion or break references.

Can I undo the change automatically?

No.

You need to change it back manually.

Should I change the code for cosmetic reasons only?

Usually no.

Only change it when there is a real business reason.
