Configure object free fields

Add custom fields to objects when the standard fields are not enough.

Object free fields let you store extra data that is specific to your process.

Use them when the standard object fields do not cover everything you need.

Examples include a construction year, certificate number, or internal reference.

Two ways to add free fields

You can add free fields:

  • from the object overview

  • from Settings → Free fields

Add a free field from the object overview

Open an object

Go to BackOffice → Objects.

Open any object.

Find the free fields section

Go to the object details area.

Find the available custom fields.

Rename the field

Click the wrench icon.

Enter the field name.

Save your change.

Fill in the field value

Use Edit on the object to enter the value.

Open Free fields

Go to Settings.

Search for Free fields.

Set the field basics

Select Objects as the entity.

Enter the field name.

Add a unique reference code.

Choose the field setup

Select the field type.

Choose a unique free field number.

Set whether the field is mandatory.

Save the field

Click Save.

Field options you configure in Settings

  • Entity

  • Name

  • Reference code

  • Type

  • Free field number

  • Mandatory

Object free fields are visible in the mobile app.

Technicians can also edit them when the app settings allow it.

Can I make a free field mandatory in the app?

Configure that in Device Policies and Settings.

Can I use a free field reference code in forms or work orders?

Yes.

The reference code can be used where object field tags are supported.
