Use the Project Planning Board

Plan project activities on a timeline and assign employees or resources.

Use the Project Planning Board when you plan by project instead of by single work order.

It shows projects and project activities on a timeline.

What you do in Project Planning

Use the board to:

  • review active projects in the selected period

  • expand project activities

  • assign employees or resources to project work

How Project Planning differs from the Scheduler

The Scheduler focuses on work orders.

Project Planning focuses on project timelines and activities.

Open the planning view

Open the Scheduler.

Then open Screen configuration.

Enable the project switch

Open the scheduling board filter settings.

Enable the option to switch between work orders and projects.

Switch to projects

Use the switch on the planning board to open Projects.

Review the timeline

Open the date range you want to plan.

Expand a project to review its activities.

Projects appear when they are active and fall inside the selected date range.

Assign employees

Drag an available employee to the project activity.

Complete the work order details when prompted.

What else you can do

You can also:

  • change activity dates on the timeline

  • open the linked project

  • review project budgets when available

  • change project or activity status on the board
