Understand project fields and options

Review the main fields you can use when you create or edit a project.

Projects include a small set of required data and a larger set of optional fields.

Use the optional fields to make planning, reporting, and billing clearer.

Required field

  • Project code — the unique project number

General fields

  • Project name — the name shown in overviews

  • External code — an external reference, such as a customer PO number

  • Active — marks the project as active, inactive, or a template

  • Billable — shows whether the project is billable

  • Status — shows the current project stage

  • Skills — limits the work to the right employees

  • Description — stores extra project context

Date and customer fields

  • Start date — the planned start

  • End date — the planned end

  • Delivery customer — where the work happens

  • Invoice customer — who receives the invoice

Progress and budget fields

  • Progress — a manual progress value

  • Budget hours — the planned hours

  • Budget costs — the planned project costs

  • Expected revenue — the planned project revenue

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between delivery customer and invoice customer?

The delivery customer is the work location.

The invoice customer is the paying relation.

Should I enter an end date if I am not sure yet?

No.

Leave it empty if the date is not known yet.

Is progress updated automatically?

Use the progress field as a manual indicator.

Check your project totals and budgets for the actual figures.
