# Use project activities

Break a project into phases so you can track progress more clearly.

Project activities split a project into smaller parts.

Use them when the project has clear phases or sub-jobs.

Examples include:

* foundation
* installation
* inspection
* handover

### Open the project

Open the project you want to edit.

### Open Activities

Go to **Activities**.

Then click **Add**.

### Enter the required fields

Enter a unique **Code**.

Add the **Name**.

### Add optional details

You can also add status, skills, description, dates, and budgets.

### Save the activity

Click **Save**.

### Why activities help

Activities help you:

* split large jobs into phases
* monitor progress per phase
* link work orders to the right part of the project
