# Use resources in the Scheduler

Resources appear in the Scheduler so you can plan equipment availability.

This helps you avoid double-booking internal assets.

### What you do here

Use the Scheduler to:

* see resource availability
* assign resources to work
* plan equipment alongside employees

### What you need first

Before resources appear in the Scheduler, make sure:

* the Resources feature is available
* the resource has a category
* the resource is ready for planning

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open the Scheduler

Go to the Scheduler in the BackOffice.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Find the resource section

Locate the resource categories and the resources inside them.

Resources are grouped by category.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Assign the resource

Plan the work order with the right resource.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Review availability

Check whether the resource is already in use.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Keep the view current while browsing

Some teams choose to refresh resource data when they move through dates or views.

This helps planners see newer changes from other users.

Use this only when needed.

More frequent refreshes can make the Scheduler feel slower.

### Why resources may be missing

The most common reason is a missing category.

Only categorized resources appear in the Scheduler.

If a resource is missing:

1. Go to **Settings → Assets → Resource Category** and create a category.
2. Go to **Settings → Device management → Resources** and open the resource.
3. In **Template and Resource**, select the category and save.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.out-smart.com/marketplace-packages-and-power-ups/power-ups/object-management/create-and-manage-resources/use-resources-in-the-scheduler.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
