# Introduction to Stock

**Stock** helps you manage materials across one or more storage locations.

Use it to track availability, avoid shortages, and keep stock changes visible.

### What Stock helps you do

* manage stock per warehouse, vehicle, or job site
* set reorder levels per item and warehouse
* update stock from material usage on work orders
* record deliveries, transfers, counts, and corrections

### When to use Stock

Use Stock when:

* you use materials or parts in daily work
* you keep stock in more than one place
* employees need to know what is available before a job
* you want less manual tracking in spreadsheets

### How it fits in OutSmart

Stock works across the BackOffice and the mobile app.

Office teams manage warehouses, stock levels, and transactions.

Field employees select the right warehouse when they register used materials on a work order.

### What you need first

* access to the **License Manager**
* a clear list of warehouses or storage locations
* the items you want to track in stock

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.out-smart.com/marketplace-packages-and-power-ups/power-ups/stock/introduction-to-stock.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
