# Tracking and managing your time

## Tracking and managing your time

Track time directly on the work order or through **Timesheets**.

Use timers when you need exact start and stop times.

In Android - OutSmart NEXT, time is usually registered in **Hours** or **Timesheets**.

### Time types

* Work
* Travel
* Break

### Register time on a work order

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open the work order

Go to **Hours**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Add or start time

Create a new time line or start a timer.

Choose the correct time type.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Save the entry

Confirm the start time, end time, and duration.

Save when the entry is correct.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Using timers

Start the timer when the activity starts.

Stop it when the activity ends.

Review the result before saving.

Depending on your setup, timers can be used for **Work**, **Travel**, and **Break**.

### Keep in mind

* Breaks can be registered separately.
* Travel can be stored apart from work time.
* Validation rules can require complete entries before completion.

### Use Timesheets when needed

Use **Timesheets** for time that does not belong to one work order.

This can include general hours, travel, and expenses.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.out-smart.com/mobile-app/android-outsmart-next/core-functionalities/tracking-and-managing-your-time.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
